A perfect day in Bangkok – last stop

When you enter the Oriental Hotel in Bangkok for the first time, it’s like a deja vu, like you have been there before.

Maybe it is because the hotel is one of a few legendary hotels in the worlds. Maybe it because you have heard the name before, and probably seen pictures of it.

The Mandarin Oriental Hotel was originally built in 1876 and has a modern tower. Many of the 393 rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows, with spectacular views of the busy and muddy Chao Phraya River. The hotel has a famous and rich literary history. World class authors like Joseph Conrad, Tennessee Williams, Graham Greene, Norman Mailer, Noël Coward, William Somerset Maugham, John le Carré – to name a few – have all stayed and worked here.

The five star hotel is a favorite of celebrity visitors to Bangkok. The River Wing contains large two bedroom suites named after former and famous guests, all associated with the hotel. Thehotel has nine restaurants, and many find the 1930’s-inspired China House, the most fascinating. The hotel also has a garden pool and a spa located across the water and reachable by ferry. The Bamboo Bar has perfectly mixed cocktails like the Singapore Sling.

The hotel was voted “Best Hotel in the World” for a record-breaking consecutive ten years (1981–90), and it’s still one of the best city hotels in the world. A stay at the Oriental is a perfect end to a perfect day in Bangkok, and after nice dinner and a night cup I suppose your wife or girlfriend and you may retire for example to the Elizabeth Taylor suite.

  1. I believe everything published made a great deal of sense. But, what
about this? what if you added a little content? I ain’t saying your information is not good., but what if you added something that grabbed folk’s attention?
I mean A perfect day in Bangkok – last stop | Behind the smiles
is a little plain. You could look at Yahoo’s front page and watch how they create article headlines to grab people to open the links. You might add a related video or a related pic or two to grab readers interested about what you’ve got to say.

In my opinion, it would bring your website a little bit more interesting.

  2. Hello would you mind stating which blog platform you’re using? I’m planning to start
my own blog soon but I’m having a tough time choosing between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your design seems different then most blogs and I’m looking for
something completely unique. P.S My apologies for getting off-topic but I had to ask!

    • Thank you for asking. I’m not an expert on this, I’m afraid, but I’m used to wordpress at work, so therefore I use wordpress on this blogg. Very satisfied so far. Good service (I’m new at this so I had to ask a cuple of quiestions)
      Good luck!

  3. Hello there! Do you know if they make any plugins to help with
Search Engine Optimization? I’m trying to get my blog to rank for some targeted
keywords but I’m not seeing very good success. If you know of
    any please share. Kudos!
